Michael's Story

Two year old Micheal was living in a orphanage near Vellore. Our volunteer Ms.Jennifer from the USA, brought Michael to Sankara six years ago.

Michael had a tragic story - superstition and blind faith of the villagers made the boy blind as soon as he lost his mother - immediately after his birth. With a very small chance of recovery in one eye and minimal posibility in the other; he was selected to receive Corneal Transplant at Sankara.

A few days after his surgery, they removed his bandages. Doctors, nurses and others watched in awe as this young child moved his hands up and down in front of his operated eye. It was sheer ecstasy for all who helped.
