Saleem was a 42 year old man from Govindapuram, AP. He had a cataract in his right eye. He lost his job as a welder due to his poor vision. His wife started working as a housemaid to make ends meet. He could not afford a surgery. His wife’s employer suggested Sankara. Eye Hospital, Guntur to Saleem. He went to a camp organized at his village and underwent the surgery subsequently. Mallareddy was a four year old from Narasarao Pet, near Guntur, AP. He was full of energy and very mischievous. An iron rod stuck his eye while playing. His parents could not afford the treatment. A good Samaritan in his village advised Mallareddy’s parents to take him to Guntur Hospital. He had an open global injury and needed a corneal tear repair. He also had a cardiac murmur, so he was rushed to the nearby city in ambulance. After getting the clearance from the Cardiologist, he underwent the surgery. Cherubic that he was, he was a rage with the hospital staff during his stay.

Jerina Begum was a 55 year old form Srivilliputhur, TN. She had lost the use of both her legs due to rheumatic fever at the tender age of 17. She was dependent on her brothers and sisters. She had matured cataract in both her eyes. This had confined her to home for five years. She came to a camp held at her home village. She was operated at Krishnankoil Hospital.
