A heart-felt THANK YOU for letting us give you a brief overview of Sankara Eye Care Institutions (SECI) and Sankara Eye Foundation USA (SEF).
Who we are:
SEF USA, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, was founded in
1998 with a mission of Vision 20/20 by the year 2020-
eradicating curable blindness in India by the year 2020. A third
of the world’s blind population live in India and two million
new cases of cataract are added every year. SEF channels
donations from donors in the USA to SECI, a non-profit
organization based in India founded by Dr. R.V. Ramani in 1977
to provide free eye-care to the needy. Click here to know more

Where we are:
SEF’s donors and volunteers have been instrumental in increasing
the number of free eye surgeries from 8,000 in 1998 to 56,000 in
2006. We have three hospitals currently in operation -
Coimbatore & Krishnankoil in Tamil Nadu and Guntur in Andhra
Pradesh. We also have three hospitals under construction: Anand
in Gujarat and Bangalore & Shimoga in Karnataka. We are also
expanding the capacity of the Guntur Hospital with Phase II.
How you can help:
SEF needs to get the construction of these three hospitals
completed on time to start serving these needy communities and
continue marching towards the ultimate mission. The following
are the immediate needs:
• $1 Million to complete the hospital in Anand.
• $1 Million to complete the hospital in Shimoga.
• $300,000 to complete the hospital in Bangalore.
• $200,000 to complete phase II of Guntur.

donation towards the construction.

Construction of the 200 bed hospital is in progress in
Anand and is expected to be complete by mid-2008. Staff
is currently being trained in Coimbatore.
Construction of the 200 bed hospital is in progress
in Shimoga and is expected to be completed by mid-2008.
Majority of the staff has been trained already.
Construction of the 200 bed hospital is almost
complete on the prime land on the Airport road and the
hospital & training center will be inaugurated in
January, 2008.
