Ramesh and Vani’s association with Sankara began when they noticed our work in the news and attended local programs. However, it was a fundraiser dinner in New Jersey that truly cemented their commitment. For Vani, the deciding factor was the “clarity of vision” demonstrated by Sankara’s leadership.
"As donors, even though we make a contribution, we still want to know what the big picture is," Vani shared. "Sankara’s vision has grown many folds over the years, but there is always clarity and transparency."
This transparency and strategic growth inspired them to look beyond their roots. While they were born and raised in Bengaluru, their support has expanded far beyond Karnataka to capital projects in Varanasi, Guntur, and most recently, Mathura.
During a recent trip to India, the Kadurs made a special visit to the Mathura Hospital, which is a beacon of hope in the region. The facility only opened its doors last year, and Jayram and Vani were impressed by the pace of operations and the high standard of care being delivered.
The couple toured the testing rooms and wards, observing firsthand the advanced diagnostic equipment and the steady flow of patients receiving life-changing treatments.
Vani was particularly impressed by the hospital’s plans to open a College of Optometry, highlighting Sankara’s commitment to building a sustainable ecosystem of eye care professionals for the future.
For Ramesh and Vani, the location of a hospital is secondary to the mission itself in their consideration for support. "It is no longer a criterion as to where the hospital is," they explained. "The mission is the main thing."
It is the dedication of supporters like Ramesh and Vani that allows Sankara to continue expanding its reach, bringing the gift of sight to every corner of India. We remain deeply grateful for their consistent and heartfelt support.
Thank you, Ramesh and Vani Kadur, for being a vital supporter of Sankara Eye Foundation, USA, and for helping us turn Vision 2030 – 1 Million free eye surgeries annually by 2030 – into a reality.
